"I started dragon boat back in 2014. A colleague of mine introduced me to a team called Ang Mo Kio- Hougang Community Sports Club, better known as Team Trident. Currently, I am paddling with Team SAFSA - Singapore Armed Force Sports Association.
I had been swimming and running previously. The reason for me to join dragon boat was to further improve my fitness and also try out a team sport. Dragon boat is the best anaerobic exercise that I have tried thus far. In addition, my country is literally an island and it just makes sense to do water sports as a hobby here!
My first medal that I got was when I paddled in the Austchamp Race back in 2018. We came in second after paddling for 5km.
My goal is to improve my paddling skills and to promote this sport with others in Singapore. Hopefully one day I might be good enough to impart my skills to the younger generation. Let's keep paddling and let the dragon boat community grow! Hopefully our sport will be in the Olympics one day! 🙂”
