“My original idea of joining a dragon boat team was to make some new friends and have a more active lifestyle. As I got more engaged with the sport, I wanted to be stronger and better at it. Now, paddling is just another big part of my life! Currently, I’ve been with Buzz Dragon for 6 years, and my teammates are like my family in Hong Kong!

My favourite and most memorable moment was the year our ladies team got second place and a silver dragon trophy in the HK Internationals race in East Tsim Sha Tsui. I remember freaking out by just looking at how long the race course was, and it was my second year paddling with Buzz. As our ladies team waited at the starting line, I tried to calm my nerves by repeating this in my head: “the girls in your boat are all going through the same thing; trust them and push through together!” The thought of it gave me so much strength and it helped to calm my nerves! The reason why I love this sport so much is because you are not fighting it alone, and it’s all about the trust and bond you build with your teammates. We all push each other to be the best versions of ourselves. Joining dragonboat was definitely one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life!”
