“I started in high school when my friend convinced me to join (I tried to convince him to join ultimate, but he didn't end up making the team). I ended up really liking the atmosphere, camaraderie and competitiveness, and I wanted to continue in university because I knew that Waterloo had a team. And now I just wanna get good (I hope my coach doesn't see how bad I look!).
My favorite memory was at Nationals 2016. During the last 2k, our steers kept yelling our pickups (essentially 7 stroke pickups split into 2 powerful strokes and 5 faster strokes). The first 500m, our steers used the pick up sparingly, but as we got further into the race he started calling them back-to-back and then it got to the point where he didn't even finish calling his previous pickup. He probably only called like 2 strokes in and started calling for another pickup!”
