“I started dragonboating when I moved to Hong Kong four years ago because I was asked by a corporate team if I wanted to paddle with them for the big race in Stanley. After one session with them, I was hooked, changed to a more competitive team and have never looked back. It has also led me to outrigging!
One of the most memorable stories was the first year I joined the team, when I was asked to paddle in Boracay, Philippines. The team had been going there for years, so I thought, “why not!” I also didn’t expect to blow anyone out of the water as we were on someone else’s home turf.

Well, we ended up winning 6 golds, 2 silvers and a bronze in the three days we raced there, not to mention all the mango daiquiris consumed in the pool while celebrating! For that to be my first international race with my new team, I will never forget it!”
