Florence "Vhence" Baito Brillantes
“I joined my team in February 2018. It was my first training and was very memorable because I kept delaying that training, and that day I was really unconfident because of my weight (I was 74kg at the time). I had mixed emotions and fear of not doing the right stroke, and that I couldn’t perform well, etc. And, when other teammates make a joke that I’m the heaviest paddler in boat, those are words I never forget.
I look forward to every next sports training, and always need to do my best; I need to prove that I deserve to be on the team I train with through workouts, running, proper diet (no carbs), all while training hard for 5 and 10km races.
All that hard-work has paid off; I’ve lost weight (64kg now!) and am the pacer for 5km race. Every stroke to me is important and now I do canoeing, too! I’ll keep paddling until I can’t anymore!”
