“I started paddling when I was 11 because I needed an afterschool sport that kept me busy. I liked the idea of paddling with a bunch of people and not just by yourself, plus it’s a good way to keep fit. When I first started, I actually hated the sport, but my coach convinced me to come back for a second season and I’ve been hooked ever since. I loved the competitiveness of the sport since I come from a family that is very competitive.
My favourite memory is my second time with Team Canada in France 2017 when our women’s crew beat Sweden by 0.005 of a second and winning the junior cup for a second time. This sport has taught me the importance of patience, friendship and knowledge of ‘you will eventually get it’. ”
